Agricultural water management

Design thinking is about moving people to action. The team at Larry Walker Associates, along with the Ventura County Farm Bureau understood the needs and challenges for their agricultural audience. We applied their user profiles to our wireframe process, testing out logic and systems with a keen eye towards simplicity and clarity, while reinforcing data stability.

We developed a site to gather data on agricultural water use and conservation methods as it relates to crops grown in Ventura County. Our system replaces paper forms and hand data entry. The information gathered, coupled with scientific data, helps establish best management practices for the agricultural community. We’ve been engaged with this ongoing program since 2013.

Wireframe models test different ways to parse questions. Our strategy moved users to the next page after completing small clusters of data entry, building confidence and familiarity with interaction.

Our database planning involves feedback loops with the client on how they want data presented, and how messages are presented to users regarding errors, omissions and summaries.
